Momma Took Us to the Zoo!

"Momma's taking us to the zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow.  Momma's taking us to the zoo tomorrow, we can stay all day!"  I think we sang that song almost the whole way to the zoo and back.  We learned it several years ago, and it has stuck.

The kids each earned a free ticket to the Dallas Zoo through the summer reading program at the local library.  So, for our last big outing of the summer, Grandma, the kids and I, decided it was time to check it out.

One of the exhibits had these little underground tunnels the kids could climb through.  They were so much fun, especially when the animals came right up close!

Camel ride anyone?  The kids had the option of riding alone or together.  They decided to all ride on the same camel.  Tyler came to the conclusion that if he gets a chance to ride again sometime, he will not pick the hump.  By the way, the camel's name was Matthew.

Another fun activity the kids enjoyed was the Birds of Prey show.  They were able to watch many unique birds perform, and even some ordinary ones-- like the rooster who very ably walked a circle.  :)  I personally didn't know you could teach chickens and roosters anything!

The kids loved the giraffes.  A young lady was kind enough to share her large leaf of lettuce with the kids, so they had fun feeding the giraffes, and then getting to pet them while they were close by.

Their favorite part?  The lions!!!  who just happened to be sleeping right next to the glass by an air-conditioned restaurant.  They spent quite a bit of time there watching them.  Grandma and I didn't mind......gave us time to sit and rest at the end of a long day.

How about you?  Been to the zoo lately?
