First Applique Quilt

I have always been curious to try applique.  I would go back and forth, I really would want to try it, then I would chicken out and think it was too difficult for me.  Well, I finally got up the courage when my son wanted a puppy quilt.  Someone had given me some puppy fabric that had these bird's eye view of the puppy's faces.  But there was only enough to get 9 puppies out of it.  So I had to think of something else to make the quilt a little bigger.  Then I came across a very cute puppy applique pattern from Anna Maria Horner.  So, I decided I give it a try.

Here's a close up.  I did a zig zag stitch around the puppy, and used the iron-on method to keep it in place.

I chose "attic window" to go around the puppy blocks .   The blue fabric that you can tell must have some kind of writing on it, is all dog words, like woof, bark, etc...

Well, Tyler loved it, so mission accomplished!  I'm always excited when I can make something they love.
