Finished Living Room!!

Well, it's finally done!  Our living room in our new home!

The beautiful brown wall is thanks to this wonderful group of people who came to help us get settled in.

They also did a lot of other work!

Here's what it the room looked like before:

A big white blank slate....... yep, that's me standing there, checking it all out, my imagination running wild.

But no longer!

I spent hours looking for a rug that I liked.  You won't believe where I finally found this one- Walmart.com.  Yep, and it fits the room perfectly.  I couldn't be happier.

Here's a view from our hallway arches.  I just love those arches!    The curtains I made from some fabric I found for $1.50 a yard.  I actually had purchased the fabric a while ago, knowing that I wanted to do our living room someday in neutrals.  There are 5 windows right in a row-which I also love, because I love natural light- so there is a panel in between each window and at each end.  The windows carry through to the dining room---which still needs some work.

My exciting find from Garden Ridge.  Gives the room just a little "bling".

A view of one of the shelves. Here is a tutorial on how to make these glass hurricanes.

  7. I love it! I really like neutral colors too =) How do old are your kids? I am wondering because I see your floor plants and I think if those were in my house they would get knocked down at least 3 times a day ..lol =)

    1. My children are 10, 8, and 6. Actually the one vase on the left has already been knocked down and broken. We super glued it back together. Then my husband had the brilliant idea to put a piece of industrial velcro on the bottom of the pot, and the other part on the carpet. Now it just moves around like a "weeble that wobbles, but don't fall down." We have watched it work a couple of times now. ;)

  9. We have the same Ironfleur rug! We bought it a little over 3 years ago when we were staging our home to sell! Selecting a rug isn't easy!

  10. Melissa, do you mind telling me what the deep brown color on the fireplace wall is called and the brand of paint you used? Also the brown that is just outside the arches? And the neutral color on the other walls in the living room? I also love that blue color on the wall beneath your stairs. Did you do that throughout the entryway/foyer or whatever it is there? It so helps me to know where to start :/ I have a whole house to decide how to paint.

    1. Hi Luree! Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. Fun times! The colors that you see in this post are actually only two colors. The dark brown is Aged Barrel by Behr. The other is a grey that we used for the neutral, instead of cream or white, throughout the whole house. I believe it was called Nimbus Cloud by Martha Stewart, but we had it matched in Behr paint. Hope this helps!

  13. I liked the way you did the renovation in this room. They breathed new life into an old building. I especially liked the flooring and carpets and I would also like to buy similar ones for my house. I have been looking for good rugs for a long time and my friend suggested that I read Leaffilter reviews to see what other people have to say about their rugs. I carefully studied the reviews of other buyers and it seems to me that it will be possible to choose the right one next week.
