Cinnamon & Sugar Soft Pretzel Bites

Be warned, these Cinnamon and Sugar Pretzel Bites are very addicting!  The recipe is fun to make and is incredibly delicious when the pretzels are served warm and drizzled with glaze.

Summer is a great time to experience new things with your kiddos.  One of our "new" experiences was making pretzel bites.  They are really quite fun to make.   The kids get to roll, cut and dip to their hearts content.  For them it was like playing with play-dough.  Except, this resulted in a filling treat.

Cinnamon and Sugar Pretzel Bites
Makes approximately 10 dozen bites

INGREDIENTS

1 cup warm water
1 tablespoon yeast
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
-------------
1 1/2 cup warm water
1 1/2 tablespoon baking soda

Cinnamon/Sugar dip

1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Powdered Sugar Glaze

1 cup powdered sugar
3 teaspoons milk

DIRECTIONS

Take the tablespoon of yeast and pour it into 1 cup of warm water.  Let it sit 10 minutes.  Next, mix the 3 cups of flour, sugar and salt.  Pour in the melted butter and water/yeast mixture.  Kneed in the mixer until the sides of the bowl come clean.  Let rise until double (30-60 min).

Once the dough has risen, roll it out to about 1/4" thickness.  Cut into 2" squares.  Combine the 1 1/2 cup of warm water and 1 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda.  Dip the 2" squares into the water/baking soda mixture then place on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 425 degrees for 7-8 min.

As soon as the bites come out of the oven, dip them in the 1/4 cup melted butter.  Mix the 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon, and roll them in there.

Serve warm with powdered sugar glaze.

Enjoy!!
