10 Great Educational Websites for Kids

Our kids always enjoy the time they get to play games on the computer.  What better than for them to  actually learn something while they play?  Here are some great educational websites for kids:

National Geographic Kids
At this site the kids can watch videos, play games and learn all-kinds of interesting facts about animals.  It is relatively easy for them to navigate on their own.  This site is recommended for children who can read.

Nasa Kids Club
Do your kids like Elmo or Buzz Light year?  This site has some fun games to play with either of those characters while teaching your child about the great beyond.

Brain Pop
Here is another site that is for the older child.  It contains many activities, games and challenges in almost all subject matters.  It is just filled with fun information!

Funology
Funology is for both the young and older child.  The younger child would need some parental supervision.  The fun in this site, I think, are the science experiments that you can watch.  There are also several games, trivia and much more!

How Stuff Works
Have a curious child in your midst?  This website is great for that child who is always asking, "What about this mommy?"  Or, "How does this work?," and "Where does this come from?"

America's Library
I love historical fiction books.  I was excited to find America's Library because it introduces our children to many of the amazing Americans in our history.  How fun to jump back in time, explore the states, learn about some of our traditions.  Children can also listen to and sing along with some of nations favorite traditional music.  Lots of fun for all!

KBears
Are your children curious about the world, people and cultures?  This site gives an abundance of fun information about many various countries and peoples.

Starfall
This was one of our absolutely favorite sites for many years.  Starfall was great fun for our kids when they were just beginning to learn to read.  It has many fun activities, stories to read and fun games to play.  Starfall is so much more than reading as it covers colors, shapes, math and several other subjects.  Starfall is very easy for your child to navigate on their own and comes highly recommended.

ABC ya
This is actually a new site for me, but it comes highly recommended by others.  ABC ya is similar to Starfall in that it covers all subject matters.  The website is also full of games and activities that your children will love.

Discovery Kids
Discovery Kids is a great site for solving puzzles, learning new facts and watching science experiments.  There is also a section called "Tell Me" that is super fun for kids to visit.

There you have it!  I hope that you continue to have a great summer!
